JACQMAR LONDON WALL SCARF BY ARNOLD LEVER

No I am not lucky enough to have this scarf!  I went to Alfies X-mas Party last night and Lesley Verrinder - a vintage specialist - had just bought it!  I was so excited to actually see it - as they are so rare!  I think they were made in 1942 for Jacqmar and it was designed by Arnold Lever.  It is in the book - Scarves - by Nicky Albrechtsen and Fola Solanke - published by Thames Hudson.  It is far out of my price range - but lovely to look at!  www.gillianhorsup.com

TOKALON POWDER COMPACT - STYLIZED FEMALE PROFILE WITH FLOWER

ART NOUVEAU CELLULOID HAIR COMB - RED WITH FLOWERS

TOBOGGAN BROOCH - WITH 2 RIDERS - WOOD & EARLY PLASTIC

1950's SNAKE CHAIN GILT BRACELET WITH LEAF & BLUE STONES DECORATION

This is a beautiful bracelet - probably 1950's.  It consists of a gilt snake chain with a central piece threaded on.  This is in white rhodium plated metal and gold plate.  It has deep blue stones and white paste stones.  I do think this is Marcel Boucher.  It has one of his stock numbers on  - but the other mark is indecipherable.  I cannot therefore sell it as Boucher although it certainly looks like it.  (If anyone seems it in a book somewhere please let me know!  Full description on my web site - www.gillianhorsup.com - price £135 reference 2567 B123/3 - or all in to Grays Antiques in central London - 020 7499 8121.

CELLULOID CIGARETTE CASE - THE HAND

LARGE GILT TASSEL CLIP EARRINGS

LEA STEIN BROOCH - SPOTTED FOX BROOCH

N. E. From's silver jewellery from the 1950/60's period is wonderful.  The quality is so good.  Love this necklace.  It is rather short - but an extender could always be added.  Silver jewellery from this period has risen in value and it is hard for me to find pieces to buy at an affordable price. KIGU GILT CARRYALL COMPACT - POWDER, LIPSTICK & CIGARETTES

This is a l950's Kigu gilt carryall compact.  It has a compartment for solid powder, another for 7 (smaller) cigarettes and a clamp for a lipstick on top.  These would have been used, for example, to go to a dinner dance and were small enough to rest on the table at dinner.  They were luxury items and would have been expensive at the time.  See full details on my web site - www.gillianhorsup.com - reference 2553 B124/1 Price £98.

DECO STYLE COMPACT - VISAGE BEAUTE COSMETICS INC.

This Art Deco style compact - made by Visage Beaute Cosmetics Inc. is a bit of a mystery.  I cannot find any reference to this company making compacts.  It was founded in 1985 and was bought by Revlon in 1988.  It bears the Visage Beaute trade mark on the front.  It is for pressed powder. SILVER RINGS - ASSORTED

FAUX PEARL & GILT BASKET EARRINGS - VINTAGE WITH LEVER BACKS

These faux pearl & gilt basket earrings are in gilt metal with lever back fittings.  They are made in the Spanish Damascene work style and could have been made in the Toledo area where this work is done.  Spanish Damascene work consists of working with gold on top of non precious metals.  These earrings have that 'look' but not the work involved in real Damascene work.  They are in good condition.  See them on my web site - www.gillianhorsup.com - ref 25445 B128/5 price £40.

LEA STEIN BROOCH - LARGE BUTTERFLY - VINTAGE LIBERTY PATTERN

BLACK SEQUIN VINTAGE EVENING BAG

This is a lovely black sequins and small black beads evening bag - probably from the 1950's.  It was made in France for Kendal Milne & Co - possibly the world's first department store.  It celebrated 175 years of trading in 2010 but is now known as 'House of Fraser Manchester'.    It is well made and has a pattern of sequins and small beads with small beaded rosettes along the top.  It has a gilt snake chain handle.  It is in very good condition - with a satin lining.  www.gillianhorsup.com for further details and more pictures.  Ref: 2496 B114/8 Price £78.
